Supporting Clients with Anhedonia: Mindfulness Tools to Reconnect with Pleasure and Emotion
Apr 10, 2025
LIVE Workshop: Thursday, April 24th, 2025
Anhedonia—the loss of interest or pleasure in daily life—is a common symptom of depression, trauma, and burnout. It can leave clients feeling emotionally numb and disengaged from once-meaningful experiences.
This experiential workshop offers mindfulness-based strategies to support emotional reconnection and engagement through everyday moments. Grounded in current research, we’ll explore how mindfulness can help restore the connection between reward, meaning, and emotional response—while fostering a curious, non-judgmental approach to experience.
Participants will learn how to use two practical tools from Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) and Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT): the Pleasant Events Calendar and the Unpleasant Events Calendar. These simple exercises help clients notice overlooked sources of meaning and gently shift patterns of avoidance or emotional flatness. Combined with guided inquiry, they build awareness, emotional presence, and capacity for engagement.
In this workshop, you will gain:
- Understand how mindfulness may help modulate anhedonia
- Gain strategies to help clients move from numbness to emotional engagement
- Learn how to facilitate the Pleasant and Unpleasant Events Calendars in one-on-one or group settings
This workshop includes on-demand CE learning and resources:
