member workshops Dec 23, 2024

Live Session: January 30th 2025

Join this workshop to learn about the role of cravings in addiction and access urge surfing strategies that you can use with clients. This workshop includes on-demand CE learning and resources and a live, interactive session.

Cravings and unhelpful coping strategies—whether substance-based or behavioral—are common challenges that can disrupt well-being, stall therapeutic progress, and perpetuate cycles of relapse or maladaptive behavior.

Urge surfing is a mindfulness-based practice designed to help clients observe and manage their cravings with greater awareness and reduce the impulsive reactions that can propagate addiction. By applying urge surfing techniques, individuals can remain present with their triggers, build their capacity to be more intentional with their choices, and make healthier decisions, leading to greater well-being.

In this workshop, you will gain:

  • An understanding of the role of cravings in addiction and unhelpful coping strategies.
  • Latest insights into the research-based benefits of mindfulness on managing addiction and craving.
  • Guidance on how to apply the urge surfing practice + worksheet in client work and how to adapt it to different populations.
